Change the Backsplash
Try a tile without buying a box of it.
What it does
The splashback is a small area doing a lot of visual work, sitting between two surfaces you have already committed to. Seeing it against your actual worktop and doors is the only meaningful test.
How to use it
- 1Photograph the run with the worktop and cabinets in frame.
- 2Describe the tile — format, colour, finish, layout.
- 3Try the same tile in two layouts before deciding.
Questions
- Can I specify a layout?
- Yes — stacked, running bond, herringbone and vertical all read very differently.
- Does the grout colour matter?
- Enormously. Name it, or the result will assume a matching grout.
