Where it comes from

The 1970s, revived for its palette and its willingness to commit.

Seventies revival brings back burnt orange, olive, chocolate and mustard, with rounded furniture, textured wall finishes and generous pattern. It suits a remodel that wants personality without period restoration, since almost none of it is architectural.

Lighting

Globe and mushroom fittings, warm and glowing, treated as objects.

What breaks it

  • Cool greys
  • Minimal styling
  • Bright white light
  • Small-scale pattern

Where to spend

Palette commitment. Half-hearted seventies reads as dated; full commitment reads as deliberate.
