Eclectic

Deliberate mixing, held together by one repeated thread.

Where it comes from

Not a period at all — a method for combining several.

Eclectic only works with a rule: a repeated colour, a consistent frame, a shared scale. A remodel supports it by keeping the shell quiet and consistent, so the mixing happens in the objects rather than in the architecture.

Lighting

Mixed deliberately — one modern, one antique, one sculptural — all warm.

What breaks it

  • Mixing with no repeated element
  • Matching sets
  • Even distribution — eclectic needs a focal point
  • Too many metals with no dominant one

Where to spend

The repeated element. Without one, eclectic is just unresolved.
